Course description
This course will provide an introduction to sexualised behaviour in children and adolescents. It aims to develop confidence and knowledge for practitioners in identifying and managing problematic behaviour. In addition, it provides tools and interventions for practitioners to use in school.

The course is designed and delivered by the Educational Psychology Service using evidence based approaches.

How can this course help?
Sexualised behaviour in children can often be both difficult to discuss and manage. Understanding children’s sexual development and research regarding sexualised behaviour enables practitioners to increase their confidence in supporting children and adolescents in this area. This training aims to develop awareness of sexualised behaviour in children and adolescents and identifies approaches, strategies and tools to aid assessment and intervention for practitioners in school.

  • Develops understanding regarding the sexual development of children and adolescents

  • Provides knowledge about sexualised behaviour in children and adolescents with additional needs

  • Highlights current research about children and young people with problematic/harmful sexualised behaviour

  • Provides an overview of assessment tools including risk assessments for identifying sexualised behaviours in children and adolescents

  • Explores useful strategies and approaches to managing sexualised behaviour in children and adolescents

  • Identifies protective factors to support children and adolescents in managing sexualised behaviour
