Teachers and Teaching Assistants in Year 3
1stClass@Writing comes ‘ready-made’ with detailed lesson plans and resources. A specially trained Teaching Assistant delivers up to 60 stimulating and motivating 40 minute lessons to a group of up to 4 children, 4 times a week, in addition to their daily class lessons. The children develop key skills of spelling, handwriting, grammar, and punctuation in order to complete daily writing tasks linked to Pirate adventures. They develop their composition and editing skills through a balance of supported ‘one-liners’ as well as sustained, independent writing. The Teaching Assistant is supported by a Link Teacher.
The cost of the training has been significantly reduced to support schools with bridging the gaps in learning.
Training will start in the summer term to allow timely intervention with groups which can then be re-established again in the autumn term.
This half day workshop will focus on supporting children’s listening and attention, understanding and speaking to ensure children reach their full potential in the EYFS. The course will explore how to provide appropriate and rich learning opportunities for all children to support the development of their communication, language and literacy from their starting points.
The session will be led by Sally Atkinson (School Improvement Learning and Teaching Adviser, EYFS)
