Description
Each term there will be the opportunity for Newly Qualified Teachers to attend a half-day session.

Outline
At each meeting NQTs will:

  • Review progress towards meeting the Teacher Standards
  • Evaluate the impact of their additional release time upon their teaching
  • Review their Career Entry and Development Profile
  • Participate in a CPD event; for example the effective teaching of reading
More detailed agendas will be sent out to schools prior to each meeting.

Cost Details
£30 per delegate to attend all 3 sessions
10% discount applied if 3 NQT’s from the same school book on

Failure to attend, without notification, wil incur a £10 admin fee

We will contact you if we are advised that this cannot go ahead because of the Coronavirus Pandemic

During the day, there will be presentations from The Local Authority NQT Induction Manager, the Professional Associations, Head teachers and current NQTs. There will also be an introduction to the local EAL context from staff of a local Primary School and time will be allocated for the NQTs to network as they prepare for the start of their teaching career. In addition, there is the opportunity for the Induction Leader in your school or Mentor representative to join the conference.

Code: SCH/21/28 Phonics Network Meeting - Aiming High- Session 6

Description
This is an opportunity to ‘Aim High’ and be ambitious for our children in EYFS and in Y1.The focus of these termly twilight meetings is to share good phonics practice and support schools in improving and sustaining Y1 phonics outcomes of above 85% and above 90%. Meetings will focus on identifying key actions to support the leadership of phonics and how teaching, assessment and monitoring can be further developed.
The first meeting will include an opportunity to attend an action planning workshop. This session will support writing an effective action plan that: directly links to the School Development Plan; provides a strategic route map; helps you achieve the goals you have set through the working document and paths the way to a whole-school improvement. The meetings will also provide opportunities to visit schools and leaders across the city and beyond to discuss and see good practice in action. Experienced and successful Phonics Leaders and Phonics Champions will also contribute to these meetings.

Each session will focus on:
• Reviewing and refining current action plans
• Reviewing assessment outcomes and actions to further support learning and teaching
• Sharing good/outstanding local practice
• Sharing good/outstanding practice from outside of Peterborough

The agenda for each meeting will be confirmed via email and later agenda items will be agreed in response to needs and requests from delegates attending.

£75 per school per session (or £60 each session, if all 3 are booked) for Cambridgeshire academies, schools from other LAs and Independent schools **
** No charge for schools who have bought into the phonics package

Code: SCH/21/7 Phonics Network Meeting Aiming Higher - Session 6

Description
This is an opportunity to ‘Aim Higher’ and further close the gap to national average in phonics by the end of Year 1. Meetings will focus on identifying key actions to support the leadership of phonics and how teaching, assessment and monitoring can be further improved. The first meeting will include support with writing an effective action plan that: directly links to the School Development Plan; provides a strategic route map; helps achieve the goals that have been set through the working document and leads to a whole-school improvement. Time will be spent in the final meeting to analyse and review outcomes and plan further actions for the forth-coming year.

The meetings will also provide opportunities to visit schools and leaders across the city and beyond to discuss and see good practice in action. Experienced and successful Phonics Leaders and Phonics Champions, who have led improvement in their own schools, will also contribute to these meetings.

Code: SCH/21/4 Literacy/English Subject Leader Network Meeting - Summer Term

Termly meetings provide opportunities for exploring effective leadership and discussing pedagogical approaches, particularly considering strategies which support pupil progress. Sessions aim to enable leaders to provide support for teachers to meet the demands of the curriculum, whilst identifying the need to support all pupils to make progress. Ideas for staff development and training will be shared. Please note, that in addition to these LSL/ESL Leader meetings, we are also offering a further CPD opportunity: English/Literacy Subject Leaders – Research Discussion Group.

Why commit to keeping the ELSA accreditation?

  • ELSAs will access ongoing psychological support and updated training for a role in school which involves complex issues related to children
  • Builds capacity in schools to prevent and manage social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Accreditation status will benefit school development in relation to the mental health agenda
  • Psychological support for ELSAs may reduce the need to gain direct psychological work with children
