Code: SCH/19/12 Year 6 Peterborough English Challenge

Schools are invited to enter a team of for Year 6 children who are able to work collaboratively during a heat that will consist of four rounds-three Team Rounds and a Memory Round. The heats, which may have up to six teams competing against each other, are held after school, in venues across Peterborough. NB: Teachers, parents and carers are invited and encouraged to attend heats with their children so that they can be engaged in discussions around English. The winners from each heat are automatically invited to the final, which is being held in the Town Hall Reception Room on Tuesday 21st January 2020. Other high scoring teams will also be invited to take part in the final and one team will be ultimately become the English Challenge Champions in 2020.

At each meeting NQTs will:
• Review progress towards meeting the Teacher Standards
• Evaluate the impact of their additional release time upon their teaching
• Review their Career Entry and Development Profile
• Participate in a CPD event; for example the effective teaching of reading.

Code: CSHHPC-163 ASC/CS Epilepsy Awareness & the administration of buccal midazolam (EVENT FULL)

This specialist training course aims to update and increase participants’ understanding of the epilepsies and provide a purposeful insight into what it feels like to have seizures. Participants will learn how to support people during and after seizures, better identify all types of seizures and understand when seizures are a medical emergency. The course will also teach the safe administration of buccal midazolam, enable the service to create safe emergency protocols and empower and engage people with epilepsy and their families and carers in maximizing the available local and national NHS epilepsy services.

Code: SCH/19/8 KS2 Assessment of Writing: Developing and Understanding of GDS

Description
This two session course is designed to support teachers with developing writing at Greater Depth in KS2.

Session 1:
This session will focus on becoming more familiar with, and developing a more secure understanding of, a range of greater depth collections of writing. Delegates will have an opportunity to work alongside colleagues and LA moderators to clearly identify the features of greater depth writing. Delegates will be asked to share good practice and identify key texts that they have successfully used as models for pupils to use in their own writing.
Y5 teachers are also invited to attend this session to develop their understanding of GDS writing at the end of KS2.

Session 2:
This session will focus on the writing skills pupils need to develop an assured and conscious control over the levels of formality and how grammar and vocabulary can be used to manipulate this. Delegates will be required to bring the writing of one focus child to identify progress towards achieving the greater depth standard and identify the next steps in learning. There will be an opportunity for delegates to explore the collections of greater depth writing with an experienced moderator.

Cost Details
£150 per person for all Peterborough schools and Cambridgeshire LA maintained schools, £75 per person per session for second & subsequent delegates
£170 per person for other LA schools and Independent schools, £80 per person per session for second & subsequent delegates
