This workshop will provide practitioners with an opportunity to revisit the statutory guidance on delivering the phonics screening check. It will explore ways in which the check can be administered to ensure that pupils are comfortable with the task and look at adaptations to suit the needs of individual learners.

There will be an opportunity to explore and share a range of resources linked to teaching and learning.

Cost Details

£50 per person for all Peterborough schools and academies, and Cambridgeshire LA maintained schools

The focus of these termly meetings is to share good early years practice and provide updates on new initiatives. These meetings will provide opportunities to visit schools across the city and to see examples of good provision.

Code: SCH/21/32 EYFS Profile Moderation - Workshops for Non-Moderated Schools (No charge) - Option 2

The Moderation Workshops enable Reception Teachers and other relevant staff to:

  • Take part in agreement trialling activities
  • Share their judgements with moderating teams and colleagues to ensure that the ‘pitch’ of their profile judgements is accurate
  • Ensure that EYFS Profile assessments are being carried out in accordance with the requirements and in line with exemplified national standards
Teachers must bring with them:
  • Observational evidence for a minimum of 3 children from across the school’s classes showing, where possible, attainment at Emerging, Expected and Exceeding: Please bring hard copies (Areas of Learning tbc)
  • Current or recent cohort data
  • EYFS Profile Handbook 2021

This is the final session of 3 sessions (Familiarisation, Have-a-Go, Cross-school cluster moderation) designed to support teachers in confidently and accurately assessing writing in Y6. All three sessions or individual sessions can be attended.

These moderation sessions will provide an opportunity for Year 6 teachers to have a writing collection externally moderated. All delegates will receive feedback on the collection they have bought to moderation.

All delegates to bring a copy of:

  •  A collection from one child comprising 4-6 pieces of evidence across a range of genres
(This collection needs to be photocopied four times)

This provides an opportunity to:

  • Discuss individual children's evidence towards the Early Learning Goals in preparation for submission of the EYFS Profile data
  • Look at Quality Assurance links.
This can be particularly useful for deciding whether children are at the goal for such aspects as writing

Please bring children's evidence to share and discuss.

Teachers can drop-in at any time between 3.30pm and 5.30pm or book a slot.

Description
Each term there will be the opportunity for Newly Qualified Teachers to attend a half-day session.

Outline
At each meeting NQTs will:

  • Review progress towards meeting the Teacher Standards
  • Evaluate the impact of their additional release time upon their teaching
  • Review their Career Entry and Development Profile
  • Participate in a CPD event; for example the effective teaching of reading
More detailed agendas will be sent out to schools prior to each meeting.

We will contact you if we are advised that this cannot go ahead because of the Coronavirus Pandemic

During the day, there will be presentations from The Local Authority NQT Induction Manager, the Professional Associations, Head teachers and current NQTs. There will also be an introduction to the local EAL context from staff of a local Primary School and time will be allocated for the NQTs to network as they prepare for the start of their teaching career. In addition, there is the opportunity for the Induction Leader in your school or Mentor representative to join the conference.

Lunch will be provided for this event
