Description
This two session course is designed to support teachers with developing writing at Greater Depth in KS2.

Session 1:
This session will focus on becoming more familiar with, and developing a more secure understanding of, a range of greater depth collections of writing. Delegates will have an opportunity to work alongside colleagues and LA moderators to clearly identify the features of greater depth writing. Delegates will be asked to share good practice and identify key texts that they have successfully used as models for pupils to use in their own writing.
Y5 teachers are also invited to attend this session to develop their understanding of GDS writing at the end of KS2.

Session 2:
This session will focus on the writing skills pupils need to develop an assured and conscious control over the levels of formality and how grammar and vocabulary can be used to manipulate this. Delegates will be required to bring the writing of one focus child to identify progress towards achieving the greater depth standard and identify the next steps in learning. There will be an opportunity for delegates to explore the collections of greater depth writing with an experienced moderator.
